"Good and Faithful" by Hudson Deane
Last Friday I attended the Daystar breakfast and launch of Hudson Deane's book "Good and Faithful". This is a book containing up-to-date research on issues of care and support for missionaries - an area which is often not well handled. The first person I mentioned the book to (a young missionary on furlow heading back overseas soon) shared a personal experience wihch could have been lifted straight out of the pages of Hudson's book.
If you have an experience you'd like to share, please post a comment below. NB - please be careful in your comments. Names of people and organisations should generally not be used in this sort of context - especially if you are sharing a negative experience.
Endorsements on the book cover include:
Murray Robertson "As the pastor of a church deeply committed to sending missionaries I'm only too aware of the serious problem of missionary attrition, an the heartbreak and disillusionment it can cause for those who return prematurely from their ministry overseas. While there have been important global studies of the problem. Hudson Deane's Good and Faithful gives us a well-researched examiniation of the problem as it affects New Zealanders".
Gordon Stanley, former Director Missions Interlink, "While it is great to eb part of the global village, at times we need analysis of what is happening in our own hamlet. Hudson Deane in his book Good and Faithful provides such an analysis for New Zealand. Indispensible for all involved in the sending and supporting of people in mission".
